"One of the thoroughly corrupt. An undead miner with admirable resilience."
—elsen-of-pestilence
"Harbinger of Pestilence. Has an easy going personality but the average inhabitant avoids him due to his sickness and his stench."
—Bx:E's Bonus Room
Huaso is a harbinger and is one of the playable characters in Bx:Execute.
Appearance
Huaso is 5’4”-5”, which is slightly taller than the average elsens from his file. The additional height comes from his burnt feet, which are well hidden under his steel capped mining shoes. His forearms are also burnt, and they have the appearance of large claws. He wears a white shirt reminiscent of the usual elsen uniform, but with the sleeves rolled up above his elbows and without a tie. Over that, he wears a pair of grey overalls. On his head, he wears a white hard hat, the same kind of hat worn by miners in Zone 1 and elsens working at the sugar factory in Zone 3. He wears a pair of airtight goggles, which appear red because of his constantly bleeding eyes.
Personality
"Good Points: Intelligent, Relaxed. Bad Points: Lazy, Stubborn."
—Bx:E's Bonus Room
Grumpy, stubborn, but also considered no-nonsense. To reduce the amount of inhabitants that can potentially become infected, Huaso self-ostracizes himself in the depths of the mines, often in tunnels of his own doing. This asocial behavior has earned him some flack from his co-workers. Since dying and coming back as a harbinger, Huaso has been jaded with the idea of continuing to live. His desire to commit to self-termination is thwarted by either the virus, or his Class as a harbinger. His body will instinctively act in the best interest of self preservation, even going all out against entry-level Purifiers on his file that are drawn to the power of Corruption. The fact that he prioritizes the safety and well being of others above his own, as well as his disdain for safety, further confirms this.
Since meeting Ghost Batter however, Huaso has also shown to be quite pleasant, even chill and content. He can handle living with this disease, as long as it is with someone who cannot get sick because of it.
Ghost and Flo are immune to it, Bad Batter has a robust immune system and will not get sick easily.
Then again, all harbringers are immune to it, too.

Relationships
Ghost Batter
Significant other. Huaso met Ghost when Ghost was sent flying into the dead end of the tunnel Huaso was working on. This happened six months after C/S/R. While both are disgruntled with the idea of living, both seemingly bring the best out of each other. But when Bad Batter isn't around to fuck things up on purpose, Ghost will fuck things up on accident. And Huaso won't hesitate to put his foot down when Ghost is about to take it an arm's length too far.
Flo
Habringer of Health, and Huaso's best friend and opposite, but Flo's pyromania and Huaso's pyrophobia can put them at odd ends at times. When Flo isn't busy doing his job, the two will frequently head out together on adventures.
Etymology
Huaso was named after the horse, who sets the high-jump world record by jumping 2.47 m (8 ft 1 in) in Viña del Mar, Chile.
Trivia
- Huaso's creator, Gig, took inspiration from Engineer, a playable character in Team Fortress 2. It's also her voice-claim for him.
